What You Can Do
Here is what you can do & we will be there with you every step of the way, if you want us to help!
Get to know your child’s Health & PE teacher. Ask what is taught in sex education; look at the materials.
Find other parents that share your concerns in your elementary, middle, or high school and in your church, neighborhood or community.
Contact your local PTA, if you are not already a member, and see what they think.
We will come to your meeting if you like us to. We in GPRHE would be happy to come to a PTA meeting, a meeting of concerned parents, a meeting of friends and neighbors, in your home or your book club and discuss Talking about sex with your kids, Everything you need to know about sex education and more - Let’s Talk
Find out about your local School Board’s policies on sex education. Many are available on our Georgia local county Board of Education policies, 2007 document, but they may have changed. Go to your school district website to find out more.
Attend School Board meetings and ask questions.
According to Georgia law every county is supposed to have a County Health & PE Committee – find out if they have one – if not, tell them they have to have one, and that you would like to be a Parent Representative.
Find Out Who Your Legislators Are. Get to know them and tell them what you think.
